With 24X optical zoom and 26mm wide angle
for wide landscape shots, the Nikon Coolpix P90 has been the major attention in
the world of camera these days. It is an ultra zoom digital camera capable of
bringing far scenes up real close with 624mm tele and built-in image
stabilization for eliminating camera shake while using long focal lengths.
It’s a perfect package for the beginner
amateur photographer as it has fast startup, fast autofocus and precise in good
lighting even at distance focal lengths. Image quality is just good at ISO 64.
Higher ISOs in most of the digital cameras can cause more noise in the picture
as well as detail loss.
PASM modes can be useful to the amateur
photographer as it will allow them to graduate from point-and-shoot photography
to make them acquainted with better knowledge of the control of the camera
settings. Advanced photographers will however miss live histogram, hot shoe and
raw file format.
According to the a people's survey,
most people have said to like these following features of the NIKON
Coolpix P90:
- Wide angle with 24x optical zoom facility
- Better quality image at low ISO of 64 when optimize image is set to vivid
- A tilting LCD for shooting the ground from close
- Full exposure flexibility
- Good metering
- Fast startup and fast autofocus
- Precise in good lighting even at distance focal lengths
- Well built structure and easy handling
One of the problems with these kinds of ‘superzoom’
cameras is that they place huge load on the lens and thus optical quality
consistently suffers. The images that are taken at wide angle can be acceptable
at small print sizes but can lack critical sharpness when printed on large
sized photo paper.
Though Nikon Coolpix P90’s first impression
are really praiseworthy with distortion correction and many other good
features, there are some other things like fix infinity focus mode, AWB mode
and LCD refresh rate that need to get improved.
Pros: You can get this camera at affordable
price and the good thing is that it has 3 inch tilting screen. More than this,
it is equipped with red eye, smile and blink detection.
Cons: It’s still a point and shoot, which
can never replace a DSLR. The video quality is also not good and its
performance is quite poor in low light.
