Nikon Coolpix P80 Review

Designed impressively and packaged with most of the cool technologies that a camera enthusiast or any other photographers would desire for, the Nikon Coolpix P80 is an advance compact digital camera that uses the CCD image sensor integrated with the18x optical Zoom-NIKKOR lens. This 10.1 megapixels high-performance camera follows Nikon’s new EXPEED™ digital image processing system and is equipped with the Optical Vibration Reduction (VR) setting that gives you the power to capture good quality images with steady shots, saving you from the pain of encountering blurred images and movies. You can also crop and edit those captured image if you wish to.

The agenda of this P80 is its “Nikon In-Camera Innovations” feature which comprises of D-Lighting, In-Camera Red-Eye Fix™ and the Face- Priority AF settings.  To be brief, the In-Camera Red-Eye Fix™ setting automatically fixes the red-eye and gives you quality image. On the other hand, the D-Lighting setting admirably balances the too much back-light or the insufficient flash in your captured images while Nikon’s stunningly improved Face-Priority AF setting is capable to find and focus not only on  just a single  subject’s face but even up to twelve people’s faces within a single frame. This enhanced Face-Priority AF setting also offers the photographer swift as well as sharper focus so as to yield good quality images with clear and crisp portraits no matter where the subjects would be positioned in the frame.

Better than the previous versions of the Coolpix P-Series cameras, this P80 provides an easy access to exposure mode settings and other shooting controls. The Nikon Coolpix P80 offers, Shutter-priority Auto [S], Programmed Auto [P], Manual [M] and Aperture-priority Auto [A] modes giving users the ability to hit into the vision of D-SLR utilities while preserving the ease of Coolpix functionality. Furthermore, the P80 has the advantage of extremely new Sport Continuous Mode, granting users to shoot more than 30 consecutive pictures at four, six, or 13 Fps.

Nikon Coolpix P80 features at a glance:
•   10 MP camera with 18x optical zoom lens
•    Vibration reduction for blur free images
•    Larger color monitor i.e. 2.7 inch
•    Built in flash with red eye reduction
•    SD memory card slot for external memory and 50 MB internal memory
•    D-Lighting that automatically brightens dark images
•    Rechargeable battery and USB connectivity

Pros: The good things about this camera are 18x zoom, manual A,S,P,M modes for SLR control, large LCD, great in low light, well built and great on D-lighting.

Cons: Flash isn’t amazing at times in this camera and it doesn't shoot in RAW. It’s a little big to fit in the pockets and only take 13 fps at 3 MP (not actually bad but wished if we could get more).
